Flare plan
My doctor and I worked out a plan so that if I start to notice symptoms of a flare, I know how to tackle it (if possible) on my own. We have a set of abnormal symptoms that to me signal a flare that we watch and if they become active for a certain amount of time, I use my flare plan. I have medications that I only use is a flare, modified diet, and of course physician support. My doctor is 90 minutes away so I don’t have immediate access but I have ways to get a hold of him or a nurse either by calling his office or emailing him. We have even set up an email communication plan so I can let him know if I need more urgent medical appointments or attention because of a flare. I encourage everyone to find a doctor who is on your team when you need support the most. I know it might take time for my doc to get back to me but I know when I need him most, he is always there!
