IBD and relationships at work
It can be scary talking about IBD at your workplace. Some people will rally around you and support you. Others may not be as understanding. Here are 4 tips for managing IBD and relationships at your workplace:
1. It’s okay to distance yourself from people who don’t support and celebrate you. Stand up for yourself, and protect your spirit and heart.
2. Have confidence and know that you are not less than, because of your illness. You are capable and strong!
3. Make sure you provide documentation of your illness to your supervisor or Human Resources office. Keep a copy of that documentation for your personal records.
4. Communicate and be patient with those around you. They may not understand IBD. Take time to help educate others when you feel comfortable.
