Tip for sore booty with a j-pouch
By Meredith - Lead Patient Advocate
On days my booty is extra sore and sensitive from going to the bathroom upwards of 6+ times a day, (especially when it’s really watery), shea butter literally saves my butt. 🍑 Without it, walking around or even just sitting can feel like I’m getting a bunch of paper cuts on my tush. 😖 Shea butter helps heal any abrasions I already have, moisturizes my skin to help make moving around easier, and provides a protective layer for when I have to wipe next bathroom trip. Give this household item a try! Just be sure to wash your hands extra well afterwards (or use gloves to apply it!) — it can be a little sticky. 😆
My surgeon prescribed me some medicated “butt paste” immediately after my surgery, but I honestly prefer the texture of shea butter because it warms and dissolves into the skin easier. The butt paste from the hospital pharmacy made me feel like I had pooped my pants because it was so thick and sticky. 🤭🙄💩 To each their own though! 😉
